About Us
Headway Bath & District was founded as a registered charity in 1998. Whilst we are affiliated to Headway – the brain injury association – we operate as a local service provider and hold our own registered charity status (No. 1207519).
We provide specialist relief, cognitive rehabilitation, and support to adults who have suffered an acquired brain injury (through accident, trauma, injury), along with their family and carers.
The charity provides day services throughout the week in Bath, online groups and bespoke 1-to-1 outreach rehab support (see more details on our services page). We provide support in Bath and North East Somerset, North and West Wiltshire.
Our focus is on encouraging service users to be actively engaged in developing their personalised support plans (I-Statements), through a person-centred, rehab and outcomes-based approach. We do this in a safe environment which will facilitate personal development, independence and improve self-esteem, with an emphasis on adjusting to life in the community again.
Our services are not CQC registered, and we cannot provide personal care.
Funded By
We take donations from the general public and love to see our friends and supporters raising money for us, but it's these organisations' funding that make our work possible and we feel very lucky and are incredibly grateful to them for the financial support they have provided over the years.
Our Trustees
Our activities are overseen a Board of Trustees. Our current trustees are as follows:
-
Louise Hawkins (interim Chair)
-
Dr Leon Dysch
-
Andrew Hinchley
-
Lisa Maendl
-

If you are interested in joining our Board of Trustees please do get in touch. We are currently recruiting for a Chair and a Treasurer, as well as other professionals to join as a trustee.
